About Me:Hello! My name is Deborah Baird. I am the counselor for students in grades 6-8, with a last names beginning with letters L-Z. As a school counselor, I help my students with issues that may be affecting their academics, career goals, and personal/social interactions. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership--Principalship from Saginaw Valley State University. I also have my master’s degree in School and Agency Counseling from Wayne State University. I have always wanted to have a career in education, and both teaching and counseling have been very rewarding for me. I have been working for East Detroit Public Schools since 1992. I taught mostly fourth grade and a couple of years of third grade at Warrendale Elementary until 2005. I then started my career as an at-risk elementary counselor at Kantner and Pleasantview Elementaries. After that first year, I was transferred to Kelly Middle School as a guidance counselor and have been here ever since. Overall I have spent 23 years in the field of education and I have enjoyed every moment of it! I still enjoy working with students of all ages and hope to continue in this field for many years to come. Welcome to my Weebly. It contains handy information for parents and students.
